In 2009 I was gifted a pocket video recorder and a copy of Final Cut editing software. I had never shot anything on film before, and went looking for something to film. I found a YouTube contest run by a diamond company called Gemex, and decided to enter.
My Photography Career
My hobby quickly turned into a side business called Shaun Fisher Photography. I shot weddings, engagements and portraits for the most part, but as the demands became more and more I decided to turn it back into a passion and shoot for my family (when friends when asked).
YouTube Contest
Grand Prize Winner
The rules were to make a video explaining why it was a good idea to get engaged during the recession. With no audio recording available my wife and I decided to make a silent film. After a community vote the top 5 videos were judged by a panel of experts. My wife and I ended up wining the contest. and we received her engagement ring and other prizes totaling $10,000. See our winning announcement below.
